SSMPL Slogan - One stop...endless possibilities
Sault Ste. Marie Public Library

This workshop for kids will cover digital photography basics in a six-week workshop. Participants will learn how to properly use and care for digital cameras and studio-grade photo equipment.

By the end of the 6 weeks, kids in the Captured in Canada workshop series will have developed skills around the fundamentals of composition and manual exposure. They will be able to recognize how, why, and when to use a tripod and studio lighting. Participants will also have a chance to take portrait photos, landscape and nature photographs, while considering what it might mean to take a photo that embodies their individual understandings of Canadian culture!

Kids in this workshop series will also try their hand at photo-collage techniques and take part in a Canada-themed photo-scavenger hunt! Finally, students will use Photoshop to process and edit their photos. Parents who provide their email will receive digital copies of some of their child's work throughout the course.

This workshop will in part take place outside of the library in the surrounding area.
