The Friends of the Library organization was formed in 1990 to bring together people in the community that share a passion for the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library. Volunteers with the organization generously offer their skills and time to help the library with events, operate the Friends of the Library Bookstore, and encourage public awareness and appreciation of library services in the community.

Most books are $1
Children’s books are 3 for $1
DVDs are $1, and CDs are $0.50

The store sells gently used books, DVDs, music CDs, books on CD, and other materials that have been donated to the Library or that are no longer a part of the Library’s collection. If you wish to volunteer at the Friends of the Library Bookstore, please fill out the volunteer application form.

**In late 2024, we added a mini-bookstore in the Library's North Branch! Look for our book cart near the circulation desk.
The Friends of the Library also has items for sale online through Amazon. Check their online store regularly for great buys.
Book donations are always welcome! Please bring your gently used donations to the red bins across from the Friends Bookstore during open Library hours. No old text books or encyclopedias, please. Thank you!

Become a Friend
Anyone can purchase an annual membership to the Friends of the Library for $5 and receive a 10% discount on all purchases in the bookstore. Members also receive 50% off $1 books on Saturdays! Simply fill out the membership form and send it to the following address:

Friends of the Library Meetings
Informal Friends Board meetings are held in April, June, September, and November on the first Monday of the month. Meetings are held in the Board Room of the Centennial Library, starting at 7:00 p.m. An Annual General Meeting of the Friends of the Library is held every February.
