Sault Ste. Marie Public Library

Come celebrate National Canadian Film Day with your Public Library!

On Wednesday April 20, 2022, we would love for you to join us for our Virtual Watch Party to celebrate the power of Canadian Film.

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will be screening the film “Abandoned: Angelique’s Isle”, directed by Michelle Derosier (Anishinaabe) and Marie-Hélène Cousineau, starring Julia Jones (Choctaw/Chickasaw), Tantoo Cardinal (Cree/Métis), and Charlie Carrick.

Abandoned: Angelique’s Isle is a film inspired by true events that takes place on a remote island in our beloved Lake Superior, Isle Royale. Travel back in time to when voyageurs were embroiled in a copper boom and were desperate to stake their claim.

All participants will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a film themed gift basket. Be sure to register by April 16, 2022 for your chance to win.

This year there will be an online ticketing system in which will provide you a link and access to the film. Join us on April 20, 2022 at 6:00PM on zoom for an introduction to the event prior to streaming the film, and after when we draw for the winner of the film themed gift basket.

Call the Reference and Information desk at 705-759-5236 or email lib.info1@cityssm.on.ca for more information and to register for the event.
