Sault Ste. Marie Public Library

National Canadian Film Day

Celebrate National Canadian Film Day at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library by attending a free film screening!

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will be screening the film All My Puny Sorrows directed by Michael McGowan on Wednesday, April 19th.

"Based on the 2014 best-selling novel by Miriam Toews, All My Puny Sorrows is the moving and poignant story of two sisters estranged from their Mennonite community who return home following the suicide of their father. Elfrieda (Gadon) is a successful concert pianist who suffers from severe depression and wants to end her life. Yolandi (Pill) is a writer who struggles to come to terms with her sister’s wishes, and makes profound discoveries about herself in the process. Featuring outstanding performances and a strong emotional core, Michael McGowan’s incredible adaptation explores the depths – and limits – of familial love in sealing the cracks of tragedy and trauma." - Synopsis taken from the National Canadian Film Day website (https://canfilmday.ca/film/all-my-puny-sorrows/).
