Borrowing

Once you have signed up for a library card, you can borrow items from any of our locations. You may even have items sent to any branch location for easier pickup.

Borrowing and Renewing Items

  • You may borrow a maximum of 100 items on your card.
  • Loan periods vary depending on the material borrowed, however, you may ask for an extended loan period when checking out materials. Many items may be renewed automatically up to 3 times unless an item has been requested by another patron.
  • You may renew materials in person, by phone (705) 759-5231, or online using your library card number and PIN.

Placing Holds

  • There are three ways you can place/cancel holds on circulating items:
    • In person with the help of a library staff member
    • Through our online catalogue using your library card number and PIN
    • By calling (705) 759-5236 during library business hours. 
  • You will be notified by phone or e-mail when the item(s) you have placed on hold are available for pick-up. Once your hold has arrived, you will have 5 days to pick-up your hold or it will be canceled.

Returning Items
Materials can be returned to any branch location at any time using our 24-hour return chute.

Fines 
Overdue fines are charged some materials if they are not returned on or before the due date, please view our annual fees document for more informaiton. Please note that if you accumulate $25.00 or more worth of fines or fees, your borrowing privileges will be suspended until your fines/fees are paid. 

Lost or Damaged Items
If an item is lost or returned damaged and the replacement cost is over $10.00, you will be charged the full replacement cost, including a $5.65 non-refundable processing fee. For items under $10.00, you will be charged the replacement cost only.
