SSMPL Slogan - One stop...endless possibilities
Sault Ste. Marie Public Library

Digital Creator North is currently closed due to the pandemic. We are hoping to re-open the space at a future date.

Digital Creator North - Sault Ste Marie  (DCN SSM) is a new initiative for youth ages 13 - 19 housed in the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library’s Centennial Branch. Sault Ste. Marie is one of six locations across Northern Ontario chosen for the Digital Creator North project.

Digital Creator North (DCN) spaces are intended to inspire creative experimentation, digital literacy, peer networking, connected learning, and community engagement through the use of media arts disciplines. The project is aimed at bringing a positive cultural impact to Northern communities by increasing participation in the media arts sector. Workshops and use of the space is free, and housed downtown in the public library for low-barrier access.

DCN SSM offers teens equipment, software and mentorship in various disciplines including but not limited to digital photography, video production, illustration/animation, audio recording, graphic design and coding. Through both structured programming (scheduled activities or workshops) and unstructured drop-in hours (open studio) the DCN space is geared towards providing a safe, open space to facilitate interest-driven learning and creation.
