Public Library will Require Proof of Vaccination
Posted: Sep 29, 2021

Beginning October 1, 2021, the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will require visitors to show proof of identification and proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they can enter Library facilities.

Members of the public will be screened at the entrances to both the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library and the North Branch. Validation of identification must show the name of the identification holder and date of birth as well as verify that the date of administration of the final shot is at least fourteen days prior to the patron being permitted to enter the Library. All other public health measures including face covering requirements and physical distancing continue to apply.

Curbside service will continue to be offered.

This decision is fully endorsed by the Library Board for the safety of Library staff, volunteers and the public.
The Library is joining a long list of municipal facilities that already require proof of vaccination. This action is in support of the effort to stop the spread of COVID-19 within our community. With additional precautions in place the Library can continue the long process of returning to normal operations.
