Public Library Closure - Curbside Service Available

In a continuing effort to serve residents while also taking precautionary measures to help combat the spread of the Covid-19 virus, all locations of the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library will remain closed until at least January 17, 2022. The Library will be resuming a curbside-only service until further notice.

To reserve library materials please visit the Library’s catalogue at www.ssmpl.ca and place a hold on the materials you would like or call 705-759-5236 to speak to a staff member. Once the holds are available the Library will contact you to set up an appointment.

In addition to the curbside service, the Library continues to offer a number of online resources including eBooks and downloadable audiobooks, research databases, online story times and more. 

If you require a library card, you can request one through our online form on the Library’s website. Staff will get back to you as soon as possible. You must be a resident of Sault Ste. Marie or one of the following communities in order to receive a card:

Aweres
Batchawana
Garden Rivers
Goulais & District
Searchmont
Tarbutt and Tarbutt Additional
Laird Township
MacDonald, Meredith & Aberdeen 

Please note that the following services will be suspended until further notice: 
•  Public computers and internet access, with the exception of limited Wi-Fi.
•  QR Code and Vaccination Status Laminations 
•   Library programming, clubs and events
•   The Digital Creator Lab (located at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library)
•   Visiting Library Service (for homebound residents)
•   The Science North Think Hub (located at the North Branch)
•   Room rentals

Ontario’s public libraries are actively monitoring the evolving situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Public libraries are working closely with local municipalities, public health authorities and Ontario’s library services agencies to make timely, responsible decisions about programming, services and access.
