The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library is excited to announce the official launch of Hoopla Flex on February 20, 2026.

Many library patrons are already familiar with Hoopla Instant, which offers always-available access to eBooks, audiobooks, comics, movies, music, TV shows, and BingePasses. 

Now, the library also offers Hoopla Flex, a new collection of high-demand eBooks and audiobooks that work just like a physical library book, meaning only one patron can borrow a Flex title at a time, but holds can be placed on checked out items.

This new collection means that patrons will gain access to more bestselling and popular titles — while still enjoying the convenience of digital borrowing. With Hoopla Flex, patrons can:
•    Borrow up to 4 Flex titles at a time
•    Place up to 5 holds
•    Turn on automatic checkout for holds
•    Enjoy a 48-hour grace period to check out available holds
•    Renew titles (up to two consecutive renewals if no one is waiting)
•    Suggest up to two titles per month for purchase

If a patron suggestion is purchased, the request automatically becomes a hold — putting readers first in line!

Borrow periods for Flex titles are similar to Hoopla Instant, making it easy to manage your digital reading and listening.

Leading up to launch, the library will be building the Flex collection with a strong selection of popular titles. After February 20, new titles will be added regularly to keep the collection fresh and exciting.

Hoopla Flex gives patrons even more flexibility, more access to sought-after titles, and more reasons to explore everything the library has to offer — all from the comfort of home.
