Kids Programming

We offer a variety of literacy based programming for children of all ages throughout the year. Our goal is to inspire a love of reading in young children while having fun!

 


Harry Potter Kids’ Trivia Party

Celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday at our Harry Potter Kids’ Trivia Party!

Harry Potter fans ages 8 to 12 are invited to join us on Wednesday, July 31st, 2024, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (50 East St.) for a trivia party. We’ll have lots of questions, from easy to challenging, as well as snacks and a birthday hat craft.

Space is limited. This is a free event. Caregivers must stay in the building for kids under age 10. Trivia will start right at 10:00 a.m., so please arrive a few minutes early to pick up your trivia sheet and settle in! Please note: snacks may contain potential food allergens.

TD Kids’ Summer Reading Club at the Library

TD Kids’ Summer Reading Club starts today at the Sault Ste. Marie Public Library! 

Kids aged 12 and under can sign up for the Cosmic Adventure Reading Club and complete reading challenges at their own pace to earn badges and help their team win! We’ll wrap up our Reading Club at the end of August with a party and prize draws.

In addition, starting in July we’ll have weekly drop-in space-themed crafts and activities at the James L. McIntyre Centennial Library (50 East St.) and North Branch Library (232C Northern Ave. E.). Reading Club sign-up is not required to enjoy these activities.

Baby Time at North Branch Library

The program with run Thursday June 13, 2024 – Thursday July 18, 2024 from 10:30am to 11:00am

Designed for the youngest library users and their parents or caregivers, Baby time is a great way to introduce young children to the library, to begin a love of books and to help children develop into lifelong learners.

This 30-minute program introduces infants to music, stories and songs that enhance their development and help build a bond with their caregiver.

Spring Baby time will be held at 232- C Northern Ave.

Forest of Reading Award Program

The Forest of Reading Award Programs are where children and young adults pick the winner! Readers choose a program that they would like to be a part of, usually based on their age or grade, and simply begin reading! They can read all ten of the titles, or pick and choose to read only the ones they are interested in. Participants are encouraged to read at least five of the ten titles to be eligible to vote in April. This program aims to encourage a genuine and life-long love of reading among readers of all ages.
